Lorrie Lane is an oil painter living in Tuscaloosa, AL. She paints landscapes, florals, portraits, and occasional sheep, as well as other subjects. Currently she is using a combination technique of palette knife and brush, allowing for both glossy texture and realistic detail.
Lorrie Lane was born in upstate New York and graduated from Smith College in 1983. She has lived and painted in Tuscaloosa for over 30 years. Her work has evolved from pen and ink and watercolor to oil painting, and she has regularly exhibited at numerous shows and galleries in the Southeast. She was a partner in an art gallery in Northport and an owner of another in Tuscaloosa.
Lorrie’s recent projects include teaching mural classes with the Alabama Prison Art and Education Project and curating rotating exhibits at the Betak/Frangoulis Gallery at Canterbury Chapel and Tuscaloosa Juvenile Court Lobby. She will be exhibiting with the Kentuck Studio Artists at the University of Alabama gallery at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center in May, and will have a solo exhibit of paintings at Tuscaloosa’s Hotel Indigo from May through August. Lorrie’s gallery representation is through Liz Lane Gallery in Homewood, AL, Taylor Kinzel Gallery in Roswell, GA, Kathleen’s Interior’s in Decatur, AL, and Studio Gallery in Grayton Beach, FL.
