I am so grateful to have been raised in the beautiful town of Fairhope, Alabama. I was born with the desire to create, but living in a town of artists and patrons of the arts, definitely further encouraged and ignited my passion. I graduated from The University of Alabama in 2011 with a degree in Studio Art with a concentration in painting. Following my graduation, I studied for a year in the graduate painting program at The Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta. I live in Birmingham with my husband Matthew.
I work in oils and paint on canvas or wood panel. I work most often in an abstract expressionistic style. I let paint be paint. Experimentation plays an instrumental role in my work. I rely on intentional and intuitive mark making to create my paintings. I’m constantly discovering new color combinations. Each color has a personality and I enjoy encouraging them to interact. I let what exists on a canvas dictate whats to come. Being open to any end result allows my work to evolve.
